This book is about a little girl named Cora. Her family is from the Philippines, but they now live in the United States like us. She loves to cook, and she wants to do the grown up cooking jobs like her big sisters and brothers.
In this book, Cora cooks a Filipino food called pancit with her mother. Pancit is a noodle dish, with mushrooms, ginger, garlic, celery, carrots, cabbage, and chicken. Cora learns how to shred chicken and how to cook all of the vegetables on the burner without getting burned. She also soaks the rice noodles and checks them to see when they are getting soft. Her meal is a huge success, and everyone thinks it is delicious. This book has a recipe for pancit at the end, and we are planning to try to cook it tomorrow night!
